European Parliament elections 2009 (53): Almost 50% of Bulgarians don't want to vote

Via europolitweeter I found this news from Bulgaria citing an opinion poll which found that 47% of Bulgarians do not want to vote for the EP elections, and that only 33% are decided to go to vote.

Pretty negative figures for the first Europe-wide European Parliament elections Bulgarians are going to participate in!

People who don't vote deserve the office-holders they get.

Sadly the closed lists in many European countries add to the misery.

The lack of candidates for the Commission Presidency is a massive failure by the Europarties in their main task.

But still it is sheer stupidity not to vote in the European elections.

Informally (and perhaps formally) the European Parliament is becoming more important for us European citizens.

The effort it takes to vote is minimal.

If a protest is intended by turning one's back at society, it is as brilliant as shooting yourself in the foot.
