It is almost 6 pm on the first day of the European Parliament elections, and neither BBC, Le Monde, or Spiegel Online have these elections visible on their main pages. I tried to find intermediate turnout figures from the UK and the Netherlands on Google News, but there is nothing to find.
International news is dominated by Barack Obama's speech in Cairo, which might change the world. At least more than these European elections, according to media attention.
Update:
Dick tells in a tweet that at 4 pm 22% of Dutch voted, which looks similar to 2004.

Perhaps the mainstream media used their ten year election quota on the US primaries, presidential campaign, voting and inauguration.
But citizens should be responsible enough to vote sensibly even without media prodding.
The European Parliament is far from fully developed, but it is already important.
Dutch results are already up, turn out is 40%, which is slightly better then five years ago.
Biggest winners are CDA (5 seats) PVV (4 seats) and D66 (4 seats)
Thanks Blaat!
Remark: ncr.nl has only 3 seats for D66 by now.
Heh, D66 'lost' a seat between our posts ;) Shame too, they're the most pro Europe party in the Netherlands.
